​GMDSS Radio Operators Course

This course prepares seafarers to perform radio communication duties in compliance with STCW Code Section A-IV/2, SOLAS Chapter IV, and ITU Radio Regulations. It equips trainees with the required knowledge and practical skills to operate GMDSS equipment and provide radio services during routine operations and emergencies.
 

Duration: 120 instructional hours
 

Key Competencies:

  • Operate GMDSS subsystems and communication equipment

  • Transmit and receive distress, urgency, and safety messages

  • Conduct search and rescue radiocommunications

  • Prevent and manage false distress alerts

  • Provide radio services during maritime emergencies
     

Who Should Enroll:
Seafarers assigned to shipboard radio duties on vessels required to participate in the GMDSS, and who are medically fit for practical training.
 

Ratings Forming Part of Navigational Watch (RFPNW)

The RFPNW course provides essential watchkeeping skills required for ratings performing navigational duties onboard ships, in accordance with STCW Code Section A-II/4. The program focuses on safe watchkeeping practices, helm control, lookout responsibilities, and emergency procedures.
 

Duration: 40 instructional hours
 

Key Competencies:

  • Steer the ship and respond correctly to helm orders in English

  • Maintain a proper lookout by sight and hearing

  • Support the officer of the watch in monitoring a safe watch

  • Operate emergency equipment and follow emergency procedures
     

Who Should Enroll:
Seafarers seeking certification as Ratings Forming Part of a Navigational Watch and who are medically fit to participate in practical exercises.
